I choose…
To live by choice, not by chance.
To make changes, not excuses.
To be motivated, not manipulated.
To be useful, not used.
To excel, not compete.
I choose self-esteem, not self pity.
I choose to listen to my inner voice…
And not the random opinion of others.

“Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.”
Leo Buscaglia

I can barely function past 10am without a few cups of coffee. Coffee was discovered so that people like me can wake up early in the morning without harming or injuring others (and ourselves). I didn’t consider myself as a coffee-addict until I ‘tried’ to cut down my intake. This didn’t work out well, just ask all the friends and family I terrorized during my caffiene-deprived state.

The longest I’ve been without coffee is two days, I couldn’t make it any further…the anxiety and neurosis set in and I had horrifying hallucinations that all the world’s coffee trees were extinct. Then there was the falling asleep at random times during the day; like during a work presentation, which I was giving. So I decided not to put myself in such jeopardy again and refueled on my life’s elixir.

Your presence is a present to the world.
You are unique and one of a kind.

Don’t try to be someone you aren’t, because then you will never find out who you really are.

Count your blessings, not your troubles.
You will make it through whatever comes along.

The only way to live happily ever after is one day at a time.

Don’t put limits on yourself.
No dreamer is ever too small, and no dream is ever too big.
Don’t be afraid to take risks…if nothing’s ventured, nothing’s gained.
Know that sometimes promises can be broken as quickly as they were made.
And that giving up doesn’t mean that you are weak, it means that you are strong enough to let go.
When things go wrong, don’t be discouraged. Instead, take a moment to be grateful for the things are still going right.
Nothing wastes more energy than worrying.
The longer one carries a problem, the heavier it gets.

Remember that a little love goes a long way.
 Remember that a lot…goes forever.

Remember that friendship is a wise investment.
Life’s treasures are the people by your side and not the material things.

Realize that it’s never too late to make a change.
Do ordinary things in an extraordinary way.

Always have hope and strive for happiness.
And don’t forget to take the time to wish upon a star.

What matters in life is…
Not what you bought, but what you build;
Not what you’ve got, but what you give.

What matters is not your fame or fortune, but your philanthropy.
Not your success, but your significance.
Not what you learn, but what you teach.

What matters in life is not only cultivating the fields of your own happiness,
But also bringing happiness to those around you.

What matters is not your competence, but your character.
What matters is not how many people you know, but how many you have inspired.

What matters in life is every act of integrity, compassion, courage or sacrifice that
enrich, empower or encourage others to emulate your example.

What matters are not your memories, but the memories that live in those who love you.
What matters is how you will be remembered, by whom and for what.

Living a life that matters doesn’t happen by accident.
It’s not a matter of circumstance, but of choice.
Choose to live a life that matters.

As we grow up, we learn that even the one person that wasn’t supposed to let ever us down, probably will.
You will have your heart broken and you too may break a few hearts. You will learn that being your own best friend is far more rewarding than being your own worst enemy. You will realise that some things are worth fighting for and others are better left alone. You will say things you didn’t mean, make mistakes and lament over how fast time is passing by. So take too many pictures, laugh a lot, apologize willingly, forgive freely, do what you love and love like you’ve never been hurt. Tell someone what they mean to you, dance in the pouring rain, speak your mind, comfort a friend, listen more, complain less, stay up late, fall asleep watching the sunrise, eat more ice cream, be fearless, worry less and smile more. You get what you give, so give the world the best you have to offer. Life comes with no guarantees, no time outs, no second chances. Don’t be afraid to take a leap of faith, learn to find the beauty in everything and let go of the things you cannot change.
Appreciate the past, plan for the future and relish in the present, after all, it is a ‘Gift’.

As we grow up, …

There comes a time when you must stand alone.
When you must feel confident enough within yourself to follow your own dreams.

You must be capable of changing and rearranging your priorities so that your final goal can be achieved.

Sometimes, familiarity and comfort need to be challenged.
There are times when you must take a few extra chances and create your own realities.

Be strong enough to overcome your own weaknesses.
Be brave enough to be able to show your emotions, joyful or sad.
Be confident enough that you won’t settle for a compromise just to get by.

Appreciate yourself by allowing yourself the opportunities to grow,
and find your true sense of purpose in this life.

Be willing to make sacrifices.
Believe in yourself and all that you are.
Know that there is something inside you that is greater than any obstacle.

Don’t stand in someone else’s shadow when it’s your sunlight that should lead the way.
